operating event where New England stations are the center of attention! The full rules and other information is located here http://www.neqp.org. Certificates are awarded to anyone making more than 25 QSOs, and there are (so far) 26 very nice plaques to be awarded. The plaques include one for the top New England club score, as well as the top school club score. We also hope to field a lot of mobiles so we can cover all 67 New England counties during the contest. Last year we had ten mobiles out across New England. Whether you plan to be on from home or while mobile, please let us know so we can update the Reserve Your County section and work to make sure all counties are covered http://www.neqp.org/ryc.html.

The new membership cards and application blanks were introduced at the beginning of the meeting. Mr. R. H. Gibbs, Chairman of the House Comm., gave a report on the progress of obtaining the Field House for our permanent quarters, to the effect that there is still a good chance of getting it. Mr. Parsons, Sr., Chairman of the Tech. Comm., gave a report on the progress of the construction of the Club Station radio apparatus, the result being that to make a good and permanent job of it, would require more money than we can now afford. The discussion of regular and associate members once more came forth and it was moved, seconded, and voted upon that we have only one class of membership, that being, all of us are regular members. It was moved, seconded and voted upon that all those who made application for membership, and whose names were read at this meeting be accepted into the Club. Dr. E. H. Tomb, Chairman of the Nominating Comm., reported that they nominated the present Club officers to continue holding their official positions. It was moved, seconded and voted upon that the Secretary be allowed to cast one ballot. It was moved, seconded and voted upon that these officers be re-elected, the vote being unanimous, the Secretary cast the ballot for this vote. All business being cleared the meeting was adjourned at 9:05 P.M. after which we all enjoyed a very interesting talk by Mr. Sam Freedman, W1FJS, and Mr. Dorsey both of the DrVry-DeForest Co. Movies were also shown but the projection was not as good as expected due to unavailable equipment. Respectfully submitted D. J. Giro, Sec.

We have some terrific meeting topics in the next few months. April, of course, is our post-Flea pizza night. May will feature FARA member, Rick (K1RJZ), who will do a talk on modifying GE Delta mobile radios and how to find them on EBay. In June, Leo (KA1LN) will do a talk on how to treat your batteries. July's talk will feature Dave (W1LMZ) doing a talk on ham radio in the 1950's and 1960's. Thanks to Gordy (K1GB) for arranging the July meeting.

FARA - The Early Years Transcribed by Karen Hess
The Framingham Amateur Radio Association, formerly called the Community Radio Association, is fortunate to have the notes dating back to the Club's first meeting. Karen Hess, W1RH's XYL, has transcribed the hand written notes, verbatim. They make for fascinating reading!
Sept. 13, 1935 The 51st regular meeting (and first of the 1935-36 season) of the Framingham Radio Club was called to order at 8:35 P.M. by Pres. Dr. Crosby.

Dick Stearns (KB1HIW), who has resigned as club secretary, was honored with a cake at the March meeting as appreciation for his excellent service to the club. Dick's employer is transferring him to North Carolina. Tom Malloy (N1FTB) will be taking over as secretary.
New England QSO Party By Tom, K1KI and Bob, W1RH
The 3rd running of the NEQP will be taking place on May 1st and 2nd this year. Last year we had more than 250 entries from all across New England, most states and a number of foreign countries. This is a nice low pressure
